This Monday, another firmware update was released for Nintendo Switch, bringing the system to version 8.0.0.
Alongside the usual (and vague) improvements intended to enhance the user experience, the system received other changes.
The patch notes can be viewed on the official website (in English), and the following additions stand out:
- Sorting software in the HOME menu by name, last played, play time, and publisher
- An option to view all available news under "News > Channel List > View More"
- 15 new icons from Yoshi's Crafted World and Splatoon 2 for users
- The option to transfer game save data between different consoles under "System Settings > Data Management > Transfer Your Save Data"
- A zoom function under "System Settings > System to turn Zoom ON". After selecting the option, it is activated by pressing the HOME button twice.
- The option to prevent the console from leaving Sleep Mode when the AC cable is disconnected. This also applies when the console is removed from its dock.

Some people believe that additions such as the zoom function and save-data transfer were made in preparation for a possible smaller Switch model, which has already been speculated about.
Although the hybrid console did not gain highly requested features such as themes and folders in the HOME menu, the update is welcome.
