Exophase, a site that tracks trophies for PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam, was recently updated to include English trophies for Puyo Puyo Tetris, which is strange since the game has not been announced for the West. It is a puzzle game developed by SEGA and Sonic Team that first arrived on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, 3DS, and Wii U in February 2014, receiving a version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December of the same year.

The English trophies for Puyo Puyo Tetris include a total of 43 trophies, with a platinum trophy for collecting them all. They all seem fairly typical, such as popping 10,000 Puyos, completing adventure mode, and winning a certain number of matches in various game modes. Puyo Puyo Tetris was very well received in Japan, with Famitsu giving it a score of 9/9/9/8 (one from each reviewer). If SEGA wanted to bring a title from the franchise to the West, this would certainly be an excellent choice. You can view the trophies by clicking here.

However, this does not mean that the game will come to the West. For now, we have to wait and see what SEGA will say about it. If I had to guess, I would say this is an English version for English-speaking countries in Asia, since SEGA recently founded SEGA Games CS to localize games in Taiwan.

Reinforcing this theory, Sam Mullen, an Atlus USA producer responsible for SEGA's Japanese games, posted on his Twitter that he was as surprised as we were. In other words, we can infer that SEGA of America is not handling the localization. In addition, Ubisoft apparently holds the Western publishing rights to games related to Tetris, which would make the game's arrival here more difficult.

Still, for anyone interested in importing the game, it seems an English version may be coming. English is better than Japanese, right?
