After its announcement, Shantae 5 went a long time without development updates. But this week, WayForward Studios gave fans a pleasant surprise in the form of news: the game’s opening will be animated by Studio Trigger.

The artwork, also available in the tweet, respectively shows the characters Shantae and Risky in the unique style that has become the company’s trademark.
The studio is known for anime such as Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, among others. In games, Studio Trigger has already collaborated on titles such as Fire Emblem: Fates and Project X Zone. As expected, it has also worked on games from its own franchises, namely Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time and Kill la Kill IF, which had not yet been released.

Shantae 5 is scheduled for release in 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade.
