After Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received VR support, it was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s turn. The recent update that brought the game to version 3.1.0 added support for the Nintendo Labo VR Goggles.
Nintendo posted a video announcing the new feature:
As the video shows, players can use the VR Goggles to watch matches with a “free” camera. The mode works in several arenas, but not all of them. In addition, it is limited to single-player or CPU matches.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s gameplay is not affected when VR is used, so it only provides a new perspective on the battles.

VR mode can be accessed in the Games & More menu, in the upper-right corner
Another new feature in version 3.0 is the addition of more Amiibo functionality: they can now enter Battle Arenas in online mode, and they can also be sent on “journeys,” where they train remotely and return after a certain amount of time with experience and other rewards.
As usual, the update also includes fighter balancing. The patch notes can be seen here.
Some notable changes are nerfs to characters considered too strong by the community (such as Pichu and Wolf), along with considerable buffs for other fighters (such as Ryu, Ken, and Captain Falcon). These changes have been well received by the competitive scene.
