Originally released in 2002, Warcraft III is the franchise's most recent game in the real-time strategy genre. In 2004, Blizzard released the MMORPG World of Warcraft and ended up forgetting the series' roots for quite some time. That is, until the recent BlizzCon 2018, where it revealed that it was developing a remaster of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

The name of this remaster is Warcraft III: Reforged, and it will be released in 2019, with no specific date yet, and exclusively for PC, at least initially. The company's promise is that the game will feature improved graphics, remodeled characters and animations, a new user interface and support for 4K resolution. A special edition of the game, called Spoils of War, is already available for preorder, and those who purchase it will receive exclusive content for other Blizzard games, such as Diablo III, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft.

At this same BlizzCon, there were also announcements of a new Diablo for smartphones and an amiibo for the Diablo 3 version of Nintendo Switch.
