Warpzone, an independent media group recognized across Brazil for its magazines dedicated to retro games, has a new project that will excite SEGA enthusiasts. The book Definitivo Master System & Game Gear seeks to tell the story of the impact caused in Brazil by SEGA's 8-bit consoles, the Master System and Game Gear. To do so, the book will feature extensive and unprecedented historical content about every version of both devices, as well as reviews of every game released for them and details about the arrival and success of both consoles in the country through Tec Toy, which continues to bring new rereleases of the console to this day.
To make the project a reality, it has a crowdfunding campaign open through Catarse. The campaign will be available for financial support for 72 days and aims to reach a budget of R$50,000.00, with a release scheduled for February 2020. With 45% of the goal reached in just the first three days, the book will offer different reward tiers for those who support the project, including posters, cards, bookmarks, a deluxe "slipcase" that imitates the original Master System box, and even the possibility of appearing in the book by telling their own story involving the Master System and Game Gear.
Cleber Marques, WarpZone's cofounder, had the following to say about the book:
It is a great pleasure to be able to record the history of video games in Brazil since the 1980s, especially in a market in which Tectoy was a pioneer, discussing SEGA's first consoles with a focus on the Master System and Game Gear. These are 30 years of absolute success, and we want to celebrate alongside an entire generation of Master System fans.
Warpzone has extensive experience with books about the video game scene, including acclaimed titles such as Mega Drive Definitivo, Essencial: The King of Fighters, Essencial: Street Fighter e Essencial: Resident Evil.

Showing the Master System's Journey in Detail
Leaving no detail unaddressed, the book will show the progression that led to the Master System we know today, including its predecessors, the SG-1000, SG-1000 II, SC-3000, and SEGA Mark III. The history of the Game Gear will also be presented, explaining its relationship with SEGA's 8-bit home console. The project will also feature reviews and analysis of more than 700 games. With the aim of collecting and recording the history of these devices in the Brazilian market pioneered by Tectoy, while also showing their origins on the international scene, its 240 pages will address the following topics:
- History of the Master System and Game Gear Internationally
- Tectoy and Its Relationship With the Master System & Game Gear
- Every Console Model (the many different versions of the Master System and Game Gear will be shown)
- Complete List of Accessories
- Analysis of Every Game (including cancelled and unofficial games)
- Game Index
- List of Supporters
- Artwork and Photos
