The story takes place during a period of calm on Earth, but Goku continues training hard so he will be ready for a new threat. During this quiet time, however, the villain Frieza returns and steals the Dragon Balls. Goku and Vegeta therefore set out to stop him from completing his plan. Broly then appears, a Saiyan with a vengeful heart who wants to destroy everyone who crosses his path.
