After a long period of rumors, speculation, and anticipation from fans, more details about the new entry in the Sakura Wars series, currently called Project Sakura Wars, were finally revealed at SEGA Fes 2019.
The game, developed by Sonic Team, will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. It is scheduled for release in Japan in late 2019, with a Western launch planned for the first half of 2020, marking the first time the series receives a Western localization produced by SEGA.
Here is a description of every element of the game revealed by SEGA so far:
"One of SEGA's greatest franchises will take the West by storm when Project Sakura Wars (official title to be announced) launches for PlayStation 4 in America and Europe in spring [fall in Brazil] 2020! A cultural phenomenon in Japan, the long-running series defined the JRPG/romance genre with its memorable characters, sensational scripts, and sublime music. Now, an entirely new title is on its way to conquer our lands.
The Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo Is Going to War
The story takes place in a romanticized version of 1940s Imperial Tokyo. Ten years ago, a cataclysmic event resulted in a devastating loss for the Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo, the capital's global defense force operating out of the Imperial Theater. The theater has struggled ever since and is now in danger of closing its doors. As captain of Tokyo's new combat revue, it is up to you to win the hearts of your troops and restore the Imperial Theater to its former glory!
