As filming approaches, more information about Sonic's CGI/live-action film is beginning to emerge. A fan asked Patrick Casey, one of the film's writers, about questions fans have regarding SEGA's mascot movie.

The fan's first question concerned Sonic's appearance: would it be identical to what we see in the current games, or more realistic like the one in the film developed by the Blue Core Studios YouTube channel, which can be seen below? Patrick replied that the Sonic design in the film would be based on Modern Sonic from the games, but would be "a little more realistic." The writer guaranteed, however, that the design would in fact have only a few changes and would not go as far as the fan-made film.

Below is a Sonic model made by Blur Studio (not to be confused with the Blue Core Studios channel mentioned above), the company that created the CGI animations for Sonic the Hedgehog (PS3, Xbox 360) and is, interestingly, led by Tim Miller, the official film's producer. This look may be a strong indicator of Sonic's appearance in the film.

The second and final question concerned a worry expressed by some fans upon learning that Sonic would have a human police-officer friend named Tom in the film. They asked whether humans would steal the focus from Sonic in his own movie. Patrick replied that Sonic is the film's protagonist and humans will be secondary. "Sonic is the main character; this is very important to us," the writer said.

Sonic the Hedgehog will premiere in theaters on November 15, 2019, directed by Jeff Fowler (nominated for an Oscar for the short film Gopher Broke), produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool), and written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller (Golan the Insatiable).
