After beginning on July 30, filming for SONIC, the CGI/live-action movie, has come to an end. The movie's director, Jeff Fowler, posted a photo on his Instagram of a clapperboard used for the production, with the comment, "Last day of an amazing shoot." Josh Miller also celebrated the end of filming.

With filming complete, the footage will be sent to Marza Planet Animation, a SEGA division responsible for animation such as the opening of Sonic Unleashed and the short film Night of the Werehog, so that Sonic can be added to the footage along with special effects such as explosions and digital touch-ups.
A Star-Studded Team Involved
A high-profile production team is responsible for bringing the SEGA mascot's first adventure to movie screens. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller (the people behind the FOX animated series Golan the Insatiable) and Oren Uziel (writer of The Cloverfield Paradox) are handling the screenplay; Tim Miller (director of Deadpool) and Toby Ascher are serving as executive producers; Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious) is the producer; and Jeff Fowler is the director, in his feature directorial debut.

The movie also features performers such as Ben Schwartz, who voices the blue hedgehog; Jim Carrey, who plays the villain Dr. Eggman; James Marsden, who plays Tom Wachowski, the sheriff of Green Hills who will help Sonic in the movie; Tika Sumpter; Natasha Rothwell; Neal McDonough; Adam Pally; and Lee Majdoub.
SONIC will open in US theaters on November 8, 2019.
