Produced by Tim Miller of Deadpool

With major names involved, the first major figure to join the film’s production was Tim Miller, director of Marvel’s acclaimed theatrical film Deadpool (2016). He eventually withdrew from the project’s sequel, and it was confirmed soon afterward that he would be part of the production of Sonic the Hedgehog.

The film will also star James Marsden (X-Men, Superman Returns), who will play Tom, a police officer who helps Sonic amid the action. Tika Sumpter (What’s Your Number?) will also play a character who remains unknown. Sonic the Hedgehog will be about Sonic, the fastest hedgehog in the world, who is pursued by the government and will receive Tom’s help while fighting Dr. Eggman’s still-unknown schemes. Filming begins on July 30, and the film should premiere in theaters in November 2019.
