As the international addition to the catalog of the download/streaming service Netflix had already been expected, it made the first 35 episodes of the animated series Sonic Boom available online to its subscribers here in Brazil. The first serialized animation of the blue hedgehog produced entirely in CGI, released in 2014, is also shown on television here by Cartoon Network and in more than 90 other countries.
With good audience figures abroad, the series went unnoticed by many people in Brazil because of its practically nonexistent promotion. It was removed from the national schedule for a while and added again with the support of its Netflix broadcast, as well as the release of DVDs for sale with 12 episodes each, imported toys, and, of course, a little push from us fans to bring it into the spotlight.
Trailer for the Japanese broadcast, titled “Sonic Toon.”
Here in Brazil, Sonic is dubbed excellently by Manolo Rey, who has refined his portrayal of the character since the first cartoon released back in 1994. Other cast members include Iara Riça as Tails, Leonardo Serrano as Knuckles, Ana Lúcia Menezes as Amy Rose, Mariana Torres as Sticks, and Isaac Bardavid as Dr. Eggman.
Sonic Boom is a spin-off series of Sonic the Hedgehog and has two seasons totaling 86 episodes.
