SONIC, the CGI/live-action movie produced by Paramount, has added another actress to its production. Natasha Rothwell, known for her roles in the HBO series Insecure and the 20th Century Fox movie Love, Simon , has been confirmed for SONIC according to Deadline. Her role remains unknown.

Rothwell will join James Marsden (who will play Tom Wachowski, a police officer who will help Sonic), Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey (who is in final negotiations to play Dr. Eggman). The movie has officially entered production, with filming beginning on July 30 in Vancouver, Canada.

We are also getting our first images from the Sonic movie's production, including one of the production team gathering in the town of Ladysmith, provided by theslystone, and another of James Marsden dressed as Tom Wachowski, provided by Celebrities Report.

We also saw Dr. Eggman concept art revealed by Douglas Einar Olsen, the Sonic movie's storyboard artist. He based the drawing on Jim Carrey, but at this point it is still unknown whether the actor has been officially confirmed for the movie.

SONIC will follow Sonic, a blue hedgehog who can run at the speed of sound, as he becomes involved in a situation in which the government begins pursuing him. He will have the help of Tom, a human police officer who will try to get him out of that situation.

The movie will be written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious), and directed by Jeff Fowler, a newcomer to the film industry. SONIC will open in theaters on November 15, 2019.
